Vice President of Risk Management - Contract

We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Risk Management to join a client of ours for a 6 month engagement. In this strategic role, you will be a vital partner in navigating corporate risks while collaborating closely with various functions, including strategy, commercial product functions, legal compliance, and HR.

Role Overview:
As the VP of Risk Management, you will serve as a critical bridge between the program lead and key corporate functions. Your expertise will guide the product and strategy teams in assessing and managing risks effectively. You will be responsible for providing advisory support, overseeing major programs, and ensuring that the strategic risk management framework (SRMF) is both robust and pragmatic.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with functional partners to identify and address potential risks on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide advisory support for risk assessment and control implementation across various programs.
  • Review and challenge significant initiatives, including the operational resilience program.
  • Support the SRMF and participate in key programs like the 2025 Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA) to ensure compliance and effective risk management.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings such as the product delivery committee, offering second-line risk support and challenge.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, utilizing your influencing and interpersonal skills to drive risk management practices.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Expertise in risk management with a broad understanding of corporate risks; specific knowledge in cyber, technology, or legal fields is not mandatory.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in providing risk support and challenge from a second-line perspective.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills; the ability to influence and connect with others is crucial.
  • A pragmatic and empathetic approach to understanding the company's journey and the limitations it may face.
