We are looking for an experienced Senior ITAM & CMDB Consultant to support the design and implementation of an improved IT Asset Management and Configuration Management capability.
This is a hands-on contract role requiring someone who can combine ITAM/CMDB process and governance expertise with practical CMDB design, configuration, discovery and data migration experience.
The Role
You will take ownership of defining the IT Asset Management operating model and developing the CMDB to provide greater visibility of infrastructure, software, business applications and services across on-premise and cloud environments.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Define the IT Asset Management ownership model across key asset classes and establish clear asset/CI ownership.
- Define the end-to-end asset lifecycle, from discovery and onboarding through to decommissioning.
- Define the environment model across DEV, TEST, PROD and OT environments.
- Establish mandatory CMDB attributes, standards and data quality requirements.
- Define how infrastructure and software CIs are linked to business applications and services.
- Extend the CMDB to incorporate business information systems, applications, SaaS and cloud instances.
- Design the CMDB data model, including CI classes for physical, virtual, on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
- Define relationships between applications, servers, databases, networks and other key infrastructure components.
- Build/update the CMDB schema and configure appropriate reconciliation rules and data quality controls.
- Integrate discovery and inventory data sources to maintain accurate and current CI information.
- Cleanse, reconcile and migrate existing infrastructure and software data into the CMDB.
- Validate server and software CI ownership, accuracy and completeness with relevant stakeholders.
- Map servers, software and infrastructure CIs to their associated business applications.
- Embed processes and controls into existing Freshservice/Freshworks capabilities wherever possible, supported by appropriate workflows and standards documentation.
Experience Required
We are looking for a senior consultant with strong experience across IT Asset Management, Configuration Management and CMDB design/implementation.
You should have experience in several of the following areas:
- IT Asset Management (ITAM) operating models and lifecycle management.
- CMDB architecture, design and implementation.
- Configuration Management / SACM.
- Designing CI classes, attributes, relationships and data models.
- Infrastructure and application discovery.
- CMDB reconciliation, data cleansing and data quality management.
- Mapping infrastructure and software CIs to business applications and services.
- Application dependency or service mapping.
- On-premise, virtualised, cloud and SaaS environments.
- Working with server, database, network and software configuration data.
- ITIL-aligned Asset and Configuration Management processes.
- Producing standards, governance and process documentation.
- Working with technical and business stakeholders to establish CI and application ownership.
- Experience with Freshservice/Freshworks and its CMDB/asset management capabilities would be highly desirable.
