We are currently looking for a Lead/ Senior Security Engineer for a contract role (Inside IR35) with one of our leading clients in Financial Services, to support the Head of Security Operations.
This role is required to enhance the capabilities of the operations security team in managing the cybersecurity risk in relation to cybercrime. The bank is under significant regulatory scrutiny at this time and the role will support the team in building, managing, monitoring, and supporting security infrastructure. The role will provide specialist technical support to the business and will support the existing teams’ activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support and analysis during security incidents and report compilation in conjunction with the head of Operations Security.
- Lead, coach, and develop the security infrastructure team to meet objectives align to the bank strategy and provide technical leadership and assistance when required. Acting as the point of escalation when needed.
- Provide steer and guidance on requirements analysis work and work with the business to plan, implement, test, deliver and maintain security solutions.
- Provide oversight and accountability for the technical delivery maintenance and scalability requirements of new and existing production security infrastructure including WAF, content filtering, web proxies, DLP, Secure email gateways and CASB systems.
- Ensure compliance management with external regulatory/ governing bodies, internal/ external audits, IT risk and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of security policies, standards and processes procedures and technical documentation including implementation, maintenance, and compliance.
- Champion activities that promote information security awareness.
- Collect and report on metrics management information, security tools and processes to provide actionable insights.
- Drive culture of continuous improvement based on day-to-day observations, experience, and other ideas.

Knowledge:
- IT Security Infrastructure and engineering experience is fundamental to this role.
- Proven track record in managing a team and acting as escalation point for complex technical matters.
- Proven Experience working with Cloud environments such as AWS & Azure
- Extensive expertise of network protocols networks and security systems (E.G Security proxies, SASE, WAF, email security gateways, SSO, CASB, DLP, IDS, IPS, NAC) is required.
- Knowledge & experience of financial services
- Knowledge of OWASP top 10, SANS Top 20, ISO27001/2 and industry standard best practices
- Strong understanding in application security & technologies
Leadership
- Experience managing a team of security engineers or similar function with varied skills level.
- A wider information security experience in addition to IT Security
- Proven experience leading security engineering projects and taking responsibility for their outcome.
- You may have been previously in roles such as Security Operations Manager, Cybersecurity Manager, Lead. Senior Security engineer.
Additional Info
- Location: Remote, although the ability to travel into London office now and again would be preferred.
- Contract Length: Current Roll Out Deadline is End of 2024, with potential work in 2025 for embedding and operational support.
